Guidelines:
These SIM rules are in place to ensure all patrons uphold the SIM atmosphere and theme keeping its masquerade alive for all participants. These rules must be followed on a mechanical level, as they are all meant to keep the Heretic Pass SIM running smooth, keep its patrons safe, and help maintain the masque of role-play throughout the entire zone. Breaking any of these SIM rules will result in appropriate action. This includes, but is not limited to, suspension from the SIM with a day/week/month ban, or in repeated or extreme cases, complete expulsion! Please make sure you read everything and understand the following rules clearly.
It is your responsibility to know the rules if you plan to role-play in Heretic Pass!
1. This is an ADULT Rated SIM. This means that Heretic Pass does not limit role-playing with strong adult content that can include sexual situations, forced fantasies, BDSM, fetish behavior as well as combat and violence including torture and rape. This does not mean that you can force a player OOC (out of character). Role-play is based on mutual agreement. That means that no one is forced to play with you. A player can remove him or herself from a scene at any point in time.
2. During the occasions that you must briefly talk OOC, please use brackets (( )) or the /9ooc: option provided with your meter. Please keep these to a minimum around those who ARE role-playing. Disturbing others’ role-play with OOC discussions/comments is not acceptable. If you want to have an OOC discussion, please respect the environment and take it to IM.
3. Shouting in the SIM is never allowed.
4. This is a private owned SIM and our GM-Mentor network is for enforcing SIM rules and assisting players with a neutral mediator for problem solving.
a. Disputes about Role-play are inevitable. Personalities clash, characters disagree. It happens. If you find yourself in a situation, please remember to remain calm. Refrain from personal OOC attacks.
b. As adult role-players in an Adult SIM, you are expected to discuss in IM the issue you are having with another player. The issue should be about SIM rules, Role-play guides, or the limits you have for role-play. Should you not be able to resolve the issue in IMs, do not hesitate to ask a Mentor to look at a scene or situation.
c. Please remember that the Mentor has need for all the information to make a fair decision. When you request help be prepared to explain in full, accurate details what has happened. Include chat logs and any other information that could help the Mentor in serving both players better.
d. We do understand that Mentors can be wrong. If you believe this is the case feel free to provide a NC stating all information to the SIM owner ( Jules Carami ) for review. It can take a few days for a response, but it will be reviewed thoroughly.
e. Voiding role-play is allowed, but should go through a Mentor before deciding to void. There are other options before going to Mentor mediation and perhaps voiding—such as fading from the scene. Voided role-play means is that you can ignore another player’s role-play. Voiding should only be used if there is no way to work out your OOC differences. Ignoring another player is not encouraged, but it is not restricted by SIM rules. If it goes to the point that you cannot tolerate interactions, you can exercise the Linden granted ability to “Ignore” that player.
5. Stick to the theme of the SIM. If you keep to a grounded and mature level of role-play it will set the stage for everyone else, and it will all weave together into our cooperative and seamless world.
